Lenovo, Samsung Stall Netbooks

Lenovo, Samsung Stall Netbooks for Windows 7

Lenovo had announced IdeaPad S12 netbook featuring Nvidia ION platform back in May and till now, there isn't any sight of it. Everybody is excited about this netbook because it was supposed to be the first netbook with HD capacities (thanks to Nvidia ION) to hit the markets. And now, Gizmodo reports that Lenovo has pushed the availability of IdeaPad S12 netbook till Microsoft Windows 7 is launched.
Lenovo IdeaPad 12 has a 12-inch WXGA (1280x800) display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor with Intel integrated GMA 950 graphics paired with Nvidia ION platform. Since Lenovo has delayed availability of IdeaPad S12 netbook, Samsung has taken up opportunity and will release its N510 which too has Nvidia ION inside.

However, Samsung N510 with Nvidia GeForce 9400M chip packs more graphic muscle than IdeaPad S12. Yes, it's the same chip packed in Apple's Unibody Macbook pros. This netbook was expected to hit U.S. markets for $599 (Rs. 28,800 approx.) next month. But LaptopMag reports that the availability of the N510 netbook has been delayed till the launch of Windows 7 according to a Samsung representative.

So, it remains for us to see how will Nvidia ION based netbooks perform with Windows 7 and that requires us to wait till Windows 7's launch this October.
